My name is Hyeji Kim, an illustrator and designer based in southern California. When I was in the first grade of elementary school, my teacher complimented me after seeing my paintings, and after that moment I became interested in art. I started studying art officially when I enrolled in an academy to go to an animation high school. I went to an animation high school in south Korea and now I am taking classes for illustration and computer graphics certificates at College. I like to make a mix creation of traditional art and digital art. And I like to be inspired by a word and a sentence while reading books, and inspired by words, colors, and situations in various media such as exhibitions and TV media advertisements.
Everyone has a memorable moment. A moment that suddenly comes into a daily life or a special occasion is remembered like pictures in my head over time. That 'moment' is the main theme of my art so that I can remember the moments such as some words or sentences, some beautiful moments when I travel, and the joy, the sorrow, and the hard times in everyday life. I usually get inspiration to be used in colors and textures by watching exhibitions, books, and various media. Also, I like to use the software such as painter or adobe, and various materials like watercolor or acrylic alcohol ink.
